What is the UDXA?

The Utah DX Association is a club made up of ham radio enthusiasts, with the primary focus in working DX on HF

What are your primary interests?

Pretty much everything related to HF.  Mainly DX'ing and contesting, but also theory, propagation, antenna building and experimenting, digital modes, amplifier building and modification, and ragchewing

Who makes up your club?

Our members are doctors, realtors, small business owners, computer programmers, analysts, accountants, students, engineers and even some retired "old farts" from all over the state of Utah.  And a few outside Utah!  Many are members of several clubs, including the Utah Amateur Radio Club (UARC).  What makes us different is that we are passionate about the HF side of things

We get up in the middle of the night to work that rare DX on some island somewhere.  We put up towers in January.  We dig tower footings in the pouring rain.  Some call us "the serious ones", but when you get to know us, you'll find we are the best group of people you'll ever meet, and are willing to go the extra mile to teach others anything related to our passion

Where do your members live?

All over the state of Utah, and even some outside the state boundaries.  Most are within the Wasatch Front

When do you meet?

We meet every third Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.  The meeting place varies to make it easier for those who live at extreme ends of the Wasatch Front to make it to the meetings.  Check the website or talk to a member to find out where we meet this month

Besides monthly meetings, what other things do you do?

The next biggest event (well...probably THE biggest event) is ARRL Field Day, which is the last full weekend in June.  THE UDXA puts on quite a show.  We welcome anyone who wants to come see how it's done.  We also have a fantastic BBQ in August

Besides these formal events, we also meet for lunch at varying locations in Salt Lake for lunch every other Friday

Do you ever use 2 meters?

The club has an official repeater, often busy during commute times on 145.190 tone 123.0.  Here you can hear tales of woe and triumph regarding that rare contact and the overwhelming pileup

How do I join?

Go the the "App/Survey" link and print out and complete the "UDXA member app.pdf".  Either bring it to the next meeting or mail it in
